When you are shopping for a car, you don’t want to spend a fortune of money but you need a car. What can you do to save money on buying a car? The first thing you have to ask yourself is, do I really need a new car? You may need a car but do you need to get a state of the art 2007 car? Unless you drive that car thousands of miles a year then maybe you could save some money and get a car that is a few years older. There may be some miles on it but it may be the difference in spending $ 7000 for a used car and $ 17,000 for a new one.

Also try not to get all the options the car is equipped with. You don’t need cruise control; you can drive the car by yourself. You don’t need power windows unless they are standard with the car. They may offer you new rims, you don’ need them. You also don’t need the 5 CD changer in the car whatever is in there is in there.

Try to save some money by trading in your old car. If you are financing or leasing get the best interest rate you can. They all may be high but the lowest of the high is still better than the highest or the high. Keep your options to a minimum and you can see how much money you saved by not taking the optional spoiler on the back of the car.
